Industrial wastewaters can range in composition depending on the nature of the facility in question. Pollutants of note include suspended solids, nitrogen, ammonia, phosphorus, heavy metals and microplastics.
Such pollutants can have serious impacts on the receiving aquatic environment such as altered pH, reduced dissolved oxygen levels, odours and more. This can result in destruction of spawning areas, reduced invertebrate populations and fish kills.
VESI work closely with our clients to produce a bespoke design, specific to the nature of the wastewaters it is intended to treat. The end result is a nature-based solution to the treatment of all of the above-mentioned pollutants as well as many more.
Additionally, ICWs require little, or in some cases, no electrical input for operation, making them an excellent choice for large scale Closure Restoration and Aftercare Management Plans in industrial facilities.
